My School Holiday Memory

It was one of those long, lazy school holiday afternoons. I had nothing to do, so I wandered down the street to meet my friend Prab... After some casual chit-chat, we decided to go visit SAAD, another close mate. When we found him, SAAD was sitting in the open area behind his house, seriously studying for an exam scheduled at the end of the year — still a long way to go. We stood there, half surprised and half amused. Eventually, he closed his book and joined us. With nothing better to do, someone (probably Prab) came up with an idea — let's play an action game, like a movie fight. Just pretend. No real punches. We split into teams: me and 'PRAB' versus SAAD, who insisted he could take both of us alone — hero mode activated. 🎭 Round One Smooth and harmless. Fake kicks, exaggerated falls, dramatic sound effects. All fun, no injuries. 🎭 Round Two PRAB decided to spice things up — He threw a real punch. Not too hard, but definitely not fake. SAAD didn’t say a word. Instead, he closed his eyes and collapsed dramatically, like a hero in a film climax. 🫢 I panicked. Tried shaking him. Called his name: “SAAD! Wake up, da!” Nothing. No reaction. Still lying flat. I turned to Prab: “Why did you hit him?” Prab, absolutely calm: “I didn’t. He’s just doing full-on drama.” I wasn’t convinced. So I quietly stepped aside and hid nearby — just to watch if he’d peek or move. But he didn’t. He stayed completely still. I came back and told Prab, “He’s not getting up.” Prab rolled his eyes and said, “He’s acting — don’t you know? He’ll get up when he wants to.” Then he dragged me by the hand, chuckling: “Come on. Let’s go.” He said it so confidently, I was confused. We left. 🌇 Later That Evening That evening, I met Prab again. I asked: “Did you see SAAD?” Prab laughed and said: “You’re still worried? I saw him earlier — he was out buying groceries!” 😂 “It’s not a ghost, da — it was really him!” Relieved and half annoyed, I said, “Come, let’s go see him.” So we both went. And just like that, the movie resumed — with dialogues this time. SAAD saw me and immediately started: “You just left me lying there! You didn’t even care!” I tried to explain: “I was really worried! It was Prab who convinced me you were acting!” But he didn’t want to listen. I kept trying to reason with him, but he wouldn’t hear it. Meanwhile, Prab was laughing his head off. He added: “Actually, we should’ve called an ambulance! Sent him to hospital! Told the doctor to give him a big injection — just for fun!” 😂 SAAD? Still angry — but only at me. The one who panicked. The one who tried to help. Now I was the villain in my own story… And Prab was the background music, enjoying the whole drama. Then came the silence. SAAD told me: “I’m not going to talk to you anymore.” I replied: “Okay.” We walked in opposite directions. Days passed. We didn’t talk. Didn’t look at each other. Then one day, his grandmother gently asked me, “Why are you both not talking? I asked him — no answer. I’m asking you — still no answer. At least tell me so I can try to mediate.” I didn’t say anything. Just stood there… silent. In my head, I was thinking: “How do I even explain this?” “What am I supposed to say? That we had a fake action fight and he fainted for fun and now he’s mad at me for walking away while he was ‘acting’?” Even I didn’t know how serious it was at the time. So I just kept quiet — Because honestly… it sounded too silly to be real, but felt too real to be silly. Our families tried to step in and sort things out. But I didn’t agree — because deep down, I felt I had done nothing wrong. I cared. I panicked. I only walked away because Prab convinced me to. But more than anything, it was me and my ego. 🤝 Somehow, We Got Back. Funny thing is… I can’t even remember when we started talking again. There was no big apology. No dramatic reunion. Maybe it was a joke. Maybe we just forgot we were mad. But one day… we were just back. Even now, we stay in touch. Sometimes we chat. Sometimes we laugh about that dramatic day. I once told my kids the story. They listened carefully — wide-eyed. And then they gave him a nickname: “Drama Uncle.” 😂 Even SAAD knows he’s a household name now. ✈️ The Reunion — Years Late. After school, we all went in different directions and lost contact. One day, years later, I got SAAD’s number. He was now working in the Middle East. And guess what? Coincidentally… so was I. 😄 I laughed to myself: “Let’s see who does the acting now.” I called him and said, “I just came from our hometown. I have something from your family to pass to you. (Just an excuse.) He agreed to meet me at his office. I went there. I recognised him instantly — he looked exactly the same. I walked up and said, “Hello, SAAD.” He looked at me… and couldn’t recognise me at all. My look had changed so much — he had no clue. 😅 I smiled and said, “Try to guess who I am?” He tried. Looked again. No way. Not even close. Eventually, I told him who I was. That moment? Absolutely priceless. From that day on, we started meeting more often. Catching up. Sharing stories. Bringing that childhood friendship quietly back to life. Until I moved again — to another country. But those few meetings? They were enough. Now We’re now in different parts of the world. Different time zones. Different lives. But we still stay in touch — at least, SAAD and I do. As for Prab… I don’t know where he is anymore. We lost contact somewhere along the way. No calls, no messages. Just… disappeared into life. Sometimes I wonder — Where’s that guy who started all the chaos? The one who dragged me out of the drama and into more drama. The one who turned a fake punch into a real story we’ll never forget. I don’t even know how to find him now. But if he ever stumbles across this story… Hey Prab, hope you’re doing well. We still talk about you. Some friendships fade out. Some get stronger. And some just leave behind a legend. From a fake fight to a real friendship. From a dramatic faint to a lifelong bond. From silence and ego to laughter across continents. Some people don’t leave your story — They just become your favourite chapter. #DramaUncle #BackyardBlockbuster #SchoolHolidayVibes #FromFakeFightToRealBond #kottaram #ghsskottaram
